Learn how to bludgeon those winter blues by crafting your very own ceramic battleaxe!
Join us for a hands-on session with sculptor Layla Simner-Lock; through hand-building techniques, you will design, make and decorate personalized, one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by ancient weaponry. Perfect for anyone interested in hand building and creating powerful objects!
About the Tutor: Layla Lock’s work is born out of a obsession with weaponry. She explores the human attraction to weaponry and how sometimes it can be exploited, while also reflecting on her own naive view of weaponry, her most violent experience with a weapon is chopping wood. Her studio practice involves creating fantasy objects of violence and studying the reactions they provoke in an audiences. Link to her website https://laylasimnerlock.cargo.site/ .
Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 48 hours' notice. We require a minimum of two students per class. If you are the only student booked for a class, you will be offered the option to convert to a discounted private lesson for an additional £30 or receive a full refund. Firing and material included in the workshop.
Glaze Variations: Due to the nature of chemical reactions and other unpredictable factors during the firing process, glazes may appear differently from our glaze tests.
Cracks & Breakage: Items may crack or break during firing due to factors such as air bubbles in the material or uneven surfaces. Please note that items with issues related to glaze variations, cracks, or breakage are non-refundable.
Pick-Up: Your artwork will typically be ready for pick-up approximately 8 weeks after the workshop. We will notify you once it’s ready—thank you for your patience!
Uncollected Artwork: If artwork remains uncollected for over 1 month, we will proceed with processing it accordingly.
